We
are
Mr & Mrs
Andrew & Monique Scott, we have two sons: Shane Scott, eldest at 23 years and
Christopher Scott at 19 Years... Oh, and not forgetting our Basset Hounds
of-course !! |

|
Our home is in Broadstone Dorset
where we have lived since 1990. Broadstone is midway between Wimborne and Poole, the population is around 5-6,000.
|
|
We are about a 20-minute drive from
the beautiful beaches at Sandbanks, Studland and Bournemouth, which is 8-miles
distance. Southampton is a 40-minute drive with London around 2-hours away. |
|
We first started showing Basset's
in 1995 at Exemption and Open Show level, and waited until 1999 before entering
our first Ch. Show (Manchester, no CC's). It became apparent that in order to
compete seriously at this level one must have a specimen of the highest quality
possible. As most Basset breeders have just one litter every year (or other
year), and naturally wish to keep the best examples for showing, we realised
that we would eventually have to have our own litter! |
|
We managed to acquire a smart puppy
from a litter bred by Barbara Hunton (Huntford), with this thought in mind. This
puppy was Huntford True Harmony (Huntford Top Gun X Switherland Betty Blue at
Huntford), who we named Rosie. |
|
Rosie shaped up quite nicely with a lovely temperament and outgoing personality,
who could "Eat for England!!".
Rosie seemed to enjoy the showing, and at her first Open Show, won BP, BOB and
PG1. She then won BP, BOB and PG3 at the New Forest Open Show. Spurred on by
this success we entered Midland Counties CH Show and in a MPB and PB class of 12
and 13 entries, Rosie respectively achieved a creditable 2nd and 3rd placing. |
|
However, in
September 2001
the time somehow seemed right to try for a litter of our own and a successful
mating was achieved with:
(CH
Morkeberg's It's Now or Never at Balmacara, owned by Ron & Francis Meredith).
This resulted in nine happy and healthy puppies, some of which can be seen in the
"Puppy Pages" on this site. We were so pleased with Rosie's first
litter that we then decided to have a repeat mating in January 2003, out
of which - eight healthy puppies were born. From this litter we kept a red &
white girl, which we named Becky (Hamlock Harmony's Girl with Siouxline). |
|
We've
had many successes with Becky in the show ring throughout 2004/5, and you
can see her achievements on the:
Gallery Page, along with her 1st litter born 07/09/06, to be seen on the: Puppies
Born 2006, and her second litter born 30/11/07, to be seen on the:
Puppies Born 2007. Furthermore, you will see
on the: Latest News, updates on Show
Results 2008 of puppies, which we have kept from Becky's first & second
litter! |
